Happy New Everyone!
As New Year's is no big deal in our house, I'm about to turn in, @ 12.10 am. The show's over, right? [grin]
The other tidbit right now is that I've ordered some books from Amazon. I haven't ordered many books since the summer, when I decided to try some fiction after a long run in the non fiction section. It might just be the blog sucking all of my free time away, but I think I've also learned that fiction is just not for me anymore. I loved it as child and as a teen, but I'll steer clear for the time being. I've barely cracked Patrick O'Brian's Post Captain, and it's a good book! I'm only half way through Jack Whyte's Clothar the Frank, and I had two weeks off to get that done.
On the way here are:
"The Face of Battle" by John Keegan
"God and the Philosophers: The Reconciliation of Faith and Reason (Oxford Paperbacks)" ed. Thomas V. Morris
"God in the Dock: Essays on Theology and Ethics" by C. S. Lewis
"No Man Is an Island" by Thomas Merton
and
"From the Angel's Blackboard: The Best of Fulton J. Sheen"
If they any good, parts of them will probably find their way here. Anybody read them? Liked them? I have not read Sheen, Keegan, or Merton before, but they all come highly recommended and I'm looking forward to diving in. Rebecca has ordered two books by Scott Hahn, which I'm also certain to steal and read. If you have ever given any thought to reading Hahn, my advice is to do so! He's very interesting and very accessible.
G'night all!
My move to Mac has been very happy except for two issues - gaming and blogging. For websurfing and multimedia, a Mac is of course a terrific machine. Games on the Mac platform are often ports of games made for the larger PC market and that means a Mac gamer will have to wait for the port. I'm not a heavy gamer by any means but I am very happy that the Mac port of Civilization 4 is finally here. Well, my copy isn't here quite yet - but it has been ordered and ought to be here soon. The blogging issue is more complicated. I'm not fond of writing my posts in a browser window. This goes back to when I was first blogging and I lost one or two large posts into the ether. After that I moved to w.bloggar - a great little app that let me compose on my desktop and then click send when all was said and done. I have not been able to recreate that experience on my Mac, and not for a lack of trying! I looked at Marsedit , but that forces you to compse while staring at a bunch of HMT...
